Telematics in public transport: Regional solidarity with strategic vision

Güssing, 2. May 2024

Verkehrsbetriebe Burgenland stands for safety, reliability and innovation in public transport. The digitalisation of the vehicle fleet was therefore an important step towards meeting these requirements in the future. An experienced expert in the field of telematics solutions was chosen for the implementation. Since then, over 100 digital logbooks from Rosenberger Teleamtics have been in use.

The integration of digital logbooks is an essential part of an efficient mobility concept. The insights gained from the telematics data serve as the basis for the continuous optimisation of operational processes, which leads to both cost savings and a reduction in CO₂ emissions. The telematics solution provides a real-time overview of daily operations as well as access to historical data for performance analyses and reporting - all at the touch of a button.

"Rosenberger Telematics hat uns in allen Phasen, von der Auswahl der Telematik-Lösung bis zur Implementierung, hervorragend beraten und unterstützt. Der Support ist kompetent, reaktionsschnell und immer bereit, Lösungen anzubieten. Wir schätzen die partnerschaftliche Zusammenarbeit sehr und empfehlen Rosenberger Telematics uneingeschränkt weiter."

Fuhrparkleitung Verkehrsbetriebe Burgenland

As an important part of the Austrian transport and mobility network, Verkehrsbetriebe Burgenland actively promotes structural expansion and modernised transport planning within the region. Since its foundation in 2020, it has established itself as a permanent fixture in the transport industry. Despite the challenges that had to be overcome, especially in the initial phase and in the context of the global pandemic, they were able to achieve impressive growth thanks to their flexibility, adaptability and the trust of their customers.

Since then, Verkehrsbetriebe Burgenland has relied on innovative and modern concepts. At the end of 2022, they opted for the first digital logbooks from Rosenberger Telematics. More than 100 vehicles are now equipped. These include vehicles belonging to Pflegeservice Burgenland, Soziale Dienste Burgenland and the Burgenland Anruf-Sammeltaxi - BAST.

The "BAST" call-and-collect taxi in Burgenland makes a significant contribution to improving the accessibility of the participating municipalities and expands the existing public transport services by taking individual needs into account. It serves passengers from the districts of Oberpullendorf, Oberwart, Güssing and Jennersdorf on demand. BAST is an innovative project that particularly benefits from the advantages of modern telematics solutions. The locations of the taxis are available in real time via the system and the journeys are automatically logged, enabling efficient route planning and capacity utilisation control.

As a supporting partner for the ongoing digital transformation, Rosenberger Telematics strives to always offer first-class service, stability and innovative solutions. The successful cooperation with Verkehrsbetriebe Burgenland shows how sustainable concepts can contribute to the mobility revolution.
